CURATED EVENTS
![]() In November of 2011, the art exhibition, "Blue-Green" took place in the open, main hall under the loft-studio-space. With the building intended as a community hall, a professional layout for exhibiting art was constructed as a temporary measure and designed for easy storage. | ![]() Four by eight wood panels were painted and joined in groups of three to form triangular pillars for wall space. |
|---|---|
![]() Scaffolding was brought in to assist with the artist-curator's vision of suspending a "blue-hole" directly over the exhibit from the twenty-foot ceiling. Extension cords were anchored from the ceiling in a cone-shape and tautly secured to the pillars. Mixed with tiny lights, metallic-sheen fabric was wrapped downward in a spiral. | ![]() Other than lighting directly on artwork, stage lights with blue bulbs were the only other light source adding to the luminosity of an underwater feel. It was anticipated that viewer's would feel like they were inside the hole, underwater as they looked upward. |
![]() "Blue-Green" challenged participating artists to set aside literal color definitions and imagine alternative interpretations. Six other artists participated in the exhibit, including a filmmaker who documented his interviews with fishermen on their interpretations of the theme. | ![]() The exhibit was only allowed to remain up for one week. |
