CURATED EVENTS

As the highlight, the community-involved mosaic floorscape was set-up temporarily for the "Mosaical Montage" art exhibit in May, 2013. In the same space as the previous exhibition, a wood frame was constructed to encase the 150 stones of the floor mosaic.

Layers of plastic, cardboard and sand were laid to protect the concrete flooring of the hall, and provide cushioning to set the 30-pound stones relatively level.

The stones were then set in place, row by row. It would be the first time for anyone, including Jacki, to see what their labour-of-love looked like!

The artist-curator created a timeline on the history of mosaic, the narrations and images suspended from above providing a floating visual about twenty feet in length. Always keen on diversity, for this exhibit Jacki had the fun of a digital artist participating.

22.story board 2.JPG

A large storyboard documenting the mosaic process was pieced together. There were hundreds of photos taken over eight months for the curator to sort through.

The mosaic floor was covered up for an "unveiling".

These hand-painted cloth panels were arranged at the entrance to the building. Stained glass mosaics are staggered in varying lengths from the lighted ceiling.

The group of individuals who came together to work on the floor-scape were briefly introduced before revealing our gift to the community.
