CURATED EVENTS
![]() As the highlight, the community-involved mosaic floorscape was set-up temporarily for the "Mosaical Montage" art exhibit in May, 2013. In the same space as the previous exhibition, a wood frame was constructed to encase the 150 stones of the floor mosaic. | ![]() Layers of plastic, cardboard and sand were laid to protect the concrete flooring of the hall, and provide cushioning to set the 30-pound stones relatively level. |
|---|---|
![]() The stones were then set in place, row by row. It would be the first time for anyone, including Jacki, to see what their labour-of-love looked like! | ![]() The artist-curator created a timeline on the history of mosaic, the narrations and images suspended from above providing a floating visual about twenty feet in length. Always keen on diversity, for this exhibit Jacki had the fun of a digital artist participating. |
![]() A large storyboard documenting the mosaic process was pieced together. There were hundreds of photos taken over eight months for the curator to sort through. | ![]() The mosaic floor was covered up for an "unveiling". |
![]() These hand-painted cloth panels were arranged at the entrance to the building. Stained glass mosaics are staggered in varying lengths from the lighted ceiling. | ![]() |
![]() The group of individuals who came together to work on the floor-scape were briefly introduced before revealing our gift to the community. | ![]() Guests were ushered to the stage for a better view. |
![]() Untitled Ceramic and porcelain tile, granite, marble, limestone, stained glass, vitreous glass, sea glass, shattered windshield, mirror in grouted concrete. 11.6 feet (h) x 17.5 feet (w) This exhibit took a week to set up and had to come down after only two days. |
